The Comic Shop in Fairbanks sets the standard by which I judge all other hobby stores, and I've been to hobby stores from one coast to the other and across the deep blue sea. The staff are subject matter experts and very accommodating, willing to go to great lengths to help out customers. As previously mentioned, their game stock is nicely varied, going beyond the typical D20 and WotC crap that clogs so many shelves these days (though they have plenty of that junk too, if that's what floats your boat). The comics and graphic novels are just as eclectic. Also on hand is a nice variety of geeky collectables ranging from fantasy weapons and action figures to niche boardgames. Also included is more than a bit of anime and manga for the "obsessed with big eyed school girl ninjas fighting giant robots" set. The Comic Shop also frequently hosts events, ranging from tourneys for card flippers and dice chuckers to 24 Hour Comic Book Day for the aspiring penciler/inkers out there. In a nutshell, the place rocks. It has something for everyone, and I can't praise it enough. -- Al Rush There is no other store like it. Comprehensive stock on any game worth playing. Who would've thought the best hobby store I'd ever walk in to would be in Fairbanks, Alaska.
